BLUE JACKETS TEAM NOTES

  • Columbus has recorded wins in two consecutive and points in four-straight games overall (3-0-1) following tonight’s victory over Boston.
  • The Blue Jackets have won three-straight at Nationwide Arena and have collected points in 10 of their last 11 home contests (7-1-3) as well as 13 of their last 15 games at Nationwide Arena (10-2-3).
  • The Jackets scored six goals for the eighth time this season tonight and the sixth time at home.
  • CBJ scored the first goal for the fourth-straight game and have now recorded the first goal in 21 (12-5-4) of the 36 games this season.
  • The club has recorded 120 goals (not including SO goals) in the first 36 games this season.  It’s the second-most goals scored through the opening 36 contests of a campaign in franchise history, trailing the 2016-17 season’s 124.
  • Columbus has scored goals in 75-of-the-108 periods played in regulation this year after scoring in all three periods tonight for the fourth consecutive game.  It’s the 15th time this season the club has scored in all three periods in regulation and the 11th time at home.
  • CBJ have registered 34 multi-goal periods this season after scoring four goals in the second period.  The four goals are tied for the season high in a single period this season (2nd period, Nov. 21 vs. Tampa Bay).
  • CBJ scored multiple power play goals for the first time this season, while finishing with three power play goals for the 40th time in franchise history (MR: Feb. 23, 2021 vs. Chicago).  It’s the first time that CBJ finished a game perfect on the man advantage with three or more attempts.  The Jackets have now recorded a PPG in eight of the last 10 games (10-of-30; 30.0 pct.).
  • Columbus denied Boston on its two power play attempts tonight and has now killed off 14-of-15 penalties in the last seven games played since Dec. 12 (93.3 pct.).
  • Tonight’s attendance was a sellout crowd of 18,821.

 

BLUE JACKETS PLAYER NOTES

  • Adam Fantilli (7-8-15, 36 GP) scored for the second time in his past five games (Dec. 12 at TBL).
  • LW Kent Johnson (10-11-21, 22 GP) picked up an assist and has points in three-straight games (1-2-3).
  • RW Kirill Marchenko (14-26-40, 36 GP) extended his career high points streak to seven-straight games (4-9-13) with his team-leading 12th multi-point and eighth multi-assist game of the season tonight as well as his fourth three-point game (1-2-3).  He’s recorded back-to-back three-point and 1-2-3 stat lines while picking up multiple points in four of his last five outings.
  • Elvis Merzlikins (11-9-3) stopped 24-of-26 shots tonight to pick up his second win of the season over Boston and improve to 4-2-2 in his career against the club.
  • Sean Monahan (13-20-33, 36 GP) appeared in his 800th NHL game (257-314-571) tonight and scored twice to notch his team-leading third multi-goal of the season.  He has five points in back-to-back games (2-3-5) and eight points in his last four outings (4-4-8).  He has now posted 6-11-17 with five multi-point efforts in 20 career GP, including seven points in his last three games against the club (2-5-7).
  • Ivan Provorov (3-11-14, 36 GP) collected an assist tonight and has points in four of the last six contests (1-3-4).
  • LW Mikael Pyyhtia (3-2-5, 26 GP) tallied an assist and has 2-1-3 in his past five games.
  • LW Dmitri Voronkov (12-10-22, 27 GP) registered 2-1-3 for his sixth multi-point game and first three-point game of the season.  He has points in six-straight contests (5-5-10), tying his career long set earlier this season (4-4-8, Nov. 18-Dec. 1, 2024).
  • Zach Werenski (11-28-39, 36 GP) extended his franchise record home points streak to 12-straight games (8-16-24) after posting his third three-point game of the season (0-4-4).  He tied his own franchise record for assists in a game by a defenseman (Nov. 22, 2023 vs. Chicago).  It’s his second consecutive game with three or more assists (3 assists vs. Montreal on Dec. 23), becoming the second player to record three-plus assists in back-to-back games (Seth Jones; 1-6-7 from Mar. 31-Apr. 3, 2018).  It’s the eighth time in his career with three assists or more, tying Artemi Panarin for the most in Blue Jackets history.  The blueliner has posted points in 17 of the past 23 played this season (8-21-29).
