Has led Ohio State into the College Football Playoffs for a fourth time
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State University head football coach Ryan Day has been named a semifinalist for the George Munger College Coach of the Year Award by the Maxwell Football Club. There are 16 semifinalists, including four from the Big Ten Conference.
Day, who is 66-10 in his sixth full season coaching the Buckeyes, has guided the team to a 10-2 record this season and into the first round of the first 12-team College Football Playoffs and a date against Tennessee Saturday night in Ohio Stadium. Day has led Ohio State to four College Football Playoffs since his initial year as head coach in 2019 and is the only coach to have advanced to four of the last six CFPs.
The 10-win season for Ohio State this year is the 31st in school history and it is the 12th consecutive season – not including the 2020 Covid-19 season – for 10 or more wins for Ohio State. Day has coached five such seasons in his six seasons as coach.
His 2024 Buckeyes are ranked No. 6 nationally in both polls and are the No. 8 seed in this CFP.
Finalists for the award will be announced Dec. 24 with the winner being named Jan. 9.
