Wright State Men’s Basketball, fresh off split on Detroit Road Trip, welcomes Marshall tonight, 7 PM

DAYTON – The Wright State men’s basketball team returns home for a Wednesday night matchup with Marshall inside the Nutter Center, with tipoff set for 7 p.m. Fans can follow the action several ways – watching on ESPN+, via live stats or by tuning in to the home for Raider Basketball 101.5 HANK FM and WING 1410 AM. Chris Collins and Jim Brown will have all the play-by-play on the radio television feeds.

Fans can tune into 101.5 HANK FM live over the air in the Dayton metro area, as well stream the station live nationwide through a variety of free streaming apps. The iHeartRadio app, the TuneIn Radio app and the Audacy app are all FREE and each carry 101.5 HANK FM. Just search “101.5 HANK FM” on any of the three apps for Raider Basketball.

LAST TIME OUT 
Jack Doumbia scored 16 of his career-high 21 points in the second half and added a career-best 13 rebounds to lead three Raiders in double figures as Wright State grabbed an 80-72 Horizon League road win at Detroit Mercy on Saturday afternoon. Brandon Noel finished with a game-best 26 points, adding seven rebounds and a steal, while Alex Huibregtse notched 17 points, 10 of which came in the final 20 minutes.

HERD THAT
Wright State and Marshall meet for just the fourth time in program history on Wednesday, previously playing in home-and-home series in the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons and more recently during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 campaigns. Keaton NorrisAlex Huibregtse and Andrew Welage all saw action in the November 2021 meeting, combining for 37 minutes and three points (on a triple from Norris). Huibregtse also played 25 minutes with two points in the December 2020 matchup.

MARSHALL MATTERS
– Marshall is 5-4 overall and coming off of a 78-69 loss at UNC Wilmington on Saturday. Marshall is 5-1 at home to date but 0-3 on the road with losses at Purdue, Western Kentucky at UNC Wilmington.
– Marshall finished with a 13-20 overall record and a 7-11 mark in the Sun Belt Conference in 2023-24. Former Marshall player and assistant Cornelius Jackson was named the new head coach in March.

DEFENSIVE CHANGES
Wright State has allowed 75 points or less in 9 of 11 contests to date after holding opponents to 75 points or less eight total times last season, with the first instance not coming until Nov. 22 against Illinois State in MTE action. The Raider defense held Air Force to 57 points on Nov. 30, the fewest points Wright State has allowed since holding Illinois State to 49 points last November.

MAJOR ASSIST
Wright State has had 15-plus assists in 7 of 11 contests to start the year after the Raiders had 15-plus helpers in 22 of 32 games last season. Wright State has 154 assists entering Saturday’s contest, averaging 15.40 per night, with both numbers leading the Horizon League.

CAREER JACK
Jack Doumbia scored 16 of his career-high 21 points in the second half and added a career-best 13 rebounds in the Dec. 7 win at Detroit Mercy. Doumbia has tallied double digits scoring in four of the last five games and has reset his career high in scoring twice to date. After going scoreless in the opener at Kentucky, Doumbia has tallied 9 games with eight-plus points. He’s been efficient too, shooting 56 percent. In addition, Doumbia has added multiple rebounds in 10 games – including three games with 10-plus boards.

STACKING (LOGAN) WOODS
Logan Woods has recorded five-plus points in 10 of 11 games and tallied a career-best 18 points on Nov. 21 against Princeton with five three-pointers, also a career-high. Woods has seen the starting lineup in each of the first 11 games, entering Wednesday averaging 8.3 points per night, the fourth-best on the roster, while logging 25 minutes per contest. Woods has already reset his high scoring mark three times this season and is currently shooting 50 percent overall and 49 percent from deep. Last season, Woods averaged 11.8 minutes/game with a 2.3 points/game average playing in 27 contests off the bench.
