DAYTON – The Wright State men’s basketball team continues its road trip in Michigan with a Saturday afternoon Horizon League matchup at Detroit Mercy. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m., and fans can follow the action several ways – via live stats, by watching on ESPN+ or by tuning in to the home for Raider Basketball 101.5 HANK FM and WING 1410 AM. Chris Collins and Jim Brown will have all the play-by-play radio feed.

Three players finished with 12 points each as the Wright State men’s basketball team connected on 16 made three-pointers but came up one basket short in a 66-64 loss at Oakland Thursday night in the Horizon League opener for both teams. Alex Huibregtse, Solomon Callaghan and Andrew Welage all finished with 12 points as each connected on four three-pointers, while Jack Doumbia notched 10 points of his own while adding six rebounds.

Saturday will be the 70th meeting all-time between Wright State and Detroit Mercy, with the Raiders leading the series 41-28 and have won 18 of the last 21 overall over the last seven seasons. The first meeting came back on Jan. 5, 1994, a 78-71 Wright State road victory inside Calihan Hall.
The last meeting between the two also came at Calihan Hall last February, with Brandon Noel finishing with 22 points, nine rebounds and Alex Huibregtse collecting 13 points in a 93-78 Raider win. Logan Woods had a then-career best 11 points off the bench in the win as well.
RECORD BREAKING TRIPLES
Wright State connected on 16 three-pointers on Dec. 5 in the loss at Oakland, the most in a single game in program history, surpassing the previous mark of 15 the Raiders hit February 16, 2020 against IU Indianapolis.

Wright State play-by-play broadcaster Chris Collins called his 850th Raider Basketball game on Dec. 5. Now in his 28th season calling Wright State action, Collins serves as the Voice of the Raiders on the radio and on ESPN home game broadcasts, along with hosting the Wright State Coaches Show.
MADE IN DETROIT
– Detroit Mercy is 5-5 overall after opening Horizon League play with a 79-78 win over Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday as the Titans connected on a season-high 11 three-pointers.
– Detroit Mercy is .500 ten games into the season for the first time since starting 5-5 in 2022-23.
-The Titans posted four wins in November, the most in the month since going 4-3 at the start of the 2017-18 season, and are looking to be 6-5 for the first time since 2015-16.

Wright State finished with 22 made field goals in its Dec. 5 loss at Oakland but connected on 16 three-pointers and finished with just six two-point baskets. Of those six, three baskets came from the elbow-free throw line area, one came on a jumper in the middle of the paint and just two made baskets came at the rim via layups – one in each half.
