COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State returns home for the Big Ten home opener on Saturday at the Buckeyes will host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Tip-off is set for noon and the game will be televised on FS1. Connor Onion and Stephen Bardo will call the action.

The game can also be heard on the Ohio State Radio Network from Learfield. Paul Keels and former Buckeye captain Ron Stokes are on the call.

  • The Buckeyes lead the all-time series 13-5 after sweeping the season series last year.
  • Ohio State is a perfect 8-0 at home against Rutgers and holds a slight 5-3 edge in games at the RAC
  • The Buckeyes are 76-33 in the first conference home game of a season.
  • The Buckeyes raced to a big lead in the first half and held on down the stretch for a 76-72 win last year in the meeting in Columbus. The game in Piscataway, the Buckeyes used a 22-4 run to pull away in the second half for a 73-51 win.
  • Ohio State is coming off a rough 83-59 setback at Maryland last Wednesday. We don’t need to rehash that one. Just move on.
  • The Buckeyes are 5-3 overall on the season and own a solid win over Texas in the season-opener in Las Vegas.
  • Freshman John Mobley Jr. leads the Big Ten in three-pointers per game at 3.00 as well as three-point percentage at 55.8 percent. He has made three or more three-pointers in six of the eight games so far this season.
  • Sophomore Devin Royal has made two-thirds of his shots (32-of-48) over the last five games. He has a pair of double-doubles and has averaged more than eight rebounds per game as well.
  • Bruce Thornton is fourth in the country with a 5.3-to-1 assist the turnover ratio. He is also leading the team at 15.5 points per game.
  • Evan Mahaffey is shooting nearly 70 percent on the season and leads the team with 11 blocked shots.
  • Rutgers enters the game at 5-3 overall as well and will be playing its first Big Ten game on Saturday. The Scarlet Knights beat Notre Dame 85-84 in overtime for their lone Power 5 win of the season. Freshmen Dylan Harper (23.8 ppg) and Ace Bailey (18.8 ppg) are the only players on the team averaging in double figures.
