NEW YORK — Nov. 13, 2024 — Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Buffalo Bills cornerback Taron Johnson and Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Leo Chenal are the AFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for Week 10 (November 7, 10-11).
OFFENSE: QB LAMAR JACKSON, BALTIMORE RAVENS
- Jackson completed 25 of 33 pass attempts (75.8 percent) for 290 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions for a 141.4 rating and added 33 rushing yards in the Ravens’ come-from-behind 35-34 win over the Bengals on Thursday Night Football. Jackson became the third player all-time with at least 275 passing yards and a passer rating of 100-or-higher in six consecutive games and the fourth quarterback in NFL history to record a passer rating of 100-or-higher in eight consecutive games within a season.
- This is the 13th-career Player of the Week award and third this season for Jackson, surpassing kicker Justin Tucker (12-time winner) for the most in franchise history:
- 2019: Weeks 1, 9, 10, 12, 15
- 2020: Weeks 1, 14
- 2021: Week 5
- 2023: Weeks 7, 17
- 2024: Weeks 5, 7, 10
- Since entering the NFL in 2018, Jackson’s 13 Player of the Week awards are tied with Josh Allen for the most in the NFL.
DEFENSE: CB TARON JOHNSON, BUFFALO BILLS
- Johnson registered a sack and a 23-yard interception-return touchdown in Buffalo’s 30-20 Week 10 win at Indianapolis. Johnson is the only player this season to have two passes defensed, an interception-return touchdown and a sack in a game.
- This is the first Player of the Week award for Johnson. He becomes the fourth Bills cornerback to earn Defensive Player of the Week in the past 10 seasons (2015-24), joining Rasul Douglas (Week 17, 2023), Nickell Robey-Coleman (Week 5, 2016) and Tre’Davious White (Weeks 7 & 15, 2019).
- Johnson becomes the first former player from Weber State to win a Player of the Week award.
SPECIAL TEAMS: LB LEO CHENAL, KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
- Chenal blocked a field goal on the final play of the game in Kansas City’s 16-14 comeback win over Denver to help the Chiefs improve to 9-0 and become the fifth reigning Super Bowl champion to win its first nine games. Chenal is the second player in the past 10 seasons (2015-24) to block a field goal on the final play to win, joining Payton Turner (Sept. 11, 2022, with New Orleans).
- This is Chenal’s first-career Player of the Week award, becoming the first Chiefs defensive player to win Special Teams Player of the Week since linebacker D.J. Alexander in Week 17 of the 2015 season.
- Chenal becomes the fifth former Wisconsin player to win Special Teams Player of the Week, joining Chad Cascadden, T.J. Edwards, John Hall (four-time winner) and Troy Vincent. Chenal and Zack Baun (who earned NFC Defensive Player of the Week this week) join Alabama’s Xavier McKinney and Pat Surtain II (who both won Defensive Player of the Week in Week 5) as the only sets of former college teammates who play the same position to earn Player of the Week the same week this season.
