Ohio State Women’s Basketball plays first road game of the season in Nashville at Belmont, 3 PM

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 12/12 Ohio State women’s basketball team (2-0) takes its first road trip of the season to face Belmont (2-1) in Nashville on Sunday. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and AM1460.

  • Ohio State earned its second victory of the season in a 94-53 decision against Charlotte on Tuesday, outscoring the 49ers 25-6 in the first quarter.
  • All 10 Buckeyes who saw the court scored as OSU totaled more than 50 second-half points for the second-consecutive game.
  • OSU’s defense recorded 16 steals for the second-straight game and forced a season-high 28 turnovers.
  • Junior guard Chance Gray tied the single game program record with nine made three-pointers, shooting 9-of-14 (.643) from behind the arc. Gray finished with a career-high 31 points. The record was previously set by Kelsey Mitchell against Minnesota on Jan. 15, 2015.
  • Belmont enters the contest with a 2-1 record. The Bruins fell to then No. 13/13 Kansas State on the road by an 82-56 margin in the season opener before earning wins over Wichita State (75-55) and Kennesaw State (75.47).
  • The Bruins have four averaging double figures through the first three games, led by Jailyn Banks’ 11.3 points per game. Kendal Cheesman leads Belmont on the boards with 7.0 rebounds per game.
  • Belmont’s defense is averaging 11.0 steals per game and is forcing 16.0 opponent turnovers per game.
  • Ohio State is 2-0 in the all-time series against Belmont. This will be the first meeting in the series that takes place outside of Columbus.
  • Last season, the Buckeyes earned an 84-55 victory against the Bruins on Dec. 22, 2023. Ohio State led by 10 points at halftime before scoring 29 points in the third quarter and limiting Belmont to eight points in the fourth quarter to create separation. OSU shot 52 percent from the floor and 46 percent from long range (12 made triples).
