Ohio Wesleyan University senior Jaggar Brooker (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and senior Bryar Ramey (Polk/Mapleton) have been named North Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week for the week of October 28, it was announced by the NCAC.

Brooker, a forward on the Ohio Wesleyan men’s soccer team, was named Men’s Soccer Player of the Week; and Ramey, a middle linebacker on the Ohio Wesleyan football team, was named Football Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Brooker had 2 goals and 2 assists in Ohio Wesleyan’s 8-0 win over Wabash on Wednesday, contributing to each of the Bishops’ first 4 goals.  He scored the game-winning goal in 29th minute, assisted a goal in the 32nd minute for a 2-0 Bishop lead, set up a goal just 22 seconds into the second half as Ohio Wesleyan took a 3-0 lead, and scored on an offensive rebound in the 49th minute for a 4-0 Bishop lead.  In Ohio Wesleyan’s 4-0 win over Wooster on Saturday, Brooker scored 2 goals and added an assist, setting up the game-winning goal in the 16th minute, scoring on a tip-in in the 36th minute for a 2-0 Bishop lead, and adding a goal in the 69th minute.  On the week, Brooker compiled 4 goals and 3 assists, with 1 game-winning score.  He leads the NCAC in assists (10), ranks second in points (26), and is tied for second in goals (8).

In Ohio Wesleyan’s 41-14 win over Hiram on Saturday, Ramey had a tackle for loss on Hiram’s first play from scrimmage, setting the tone for a 3-and-out on the Terriers’ initial possession.  He helped stop a Hiram receiver short of the first-down marker on a third-and-10 call in the second quarter, forcing a punt to help protect a 14-7 Bishop lead, and was in on a tackle for loss on the final play of the first half, helping the Bishops take a 21-7 lead into locker room.  With the score still 21-7 in third quarter, after Hiram started a drive at the OWU 5-yard line, Ramey had a stop for no gain on second-and-goal from the OWU 3, then was in on a tackle for a loss of 1 yard on third-and-goal from the OWU 3 as the Bishop defense repelled the Hiram threat and protected the 21-7 lead.  Later in the third period, Ramey picked off a pass and returned it to the Hiram 24, setting up an OWU touchdown on the next play from scrimmage as OWU increased the lead to 28-7 in third quarter.  Ramey led the Bishops with 8 tackles, including 1½ for loss of 2 yards.
