DAYTON — CareSource and the University of Dayton men’s basketball team will host an exhibition game with Xavier on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 5 p.m.  The game, which is sold out, will cap off the second year of community engagement events championing adolescent and young adult mental health and suicide prevention.

Game time is 5 p.m. ET.

All net proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Jay’s Light, the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation and other charities within the Dayton and Cincinnati footprint.

Last season, Ohio State and Dayton played in the inaugural game.  This year, the efforts supporting this cause have grown into three games.  The Buckeyes and the UC Bearcats played in Cincinnati on Friday, Oct. 18, while Kansas will play at Arkansas on Friday, Oct. 25.

All the events around last year’s game in Dayton generated nearly $500,000 for the charities involved.

Dayton was picked second in the Atlantic 10’s Preseason Poll.  Senior forward Nate Santos was named preseason All-Atlantic 10, and senior transfer guard Posh Alexander was named to the second team.  Alexander and senior guard Enoch Cheeks were both named to the A-10 preseason All-Defensive Team.

UD returns three starters from last year’s squad that posted a 25-8 overall mark and finished third in the Atlantic 10 Conference standings. The Flyers earned a No. 7 seed in the NCAA tournament, advancing to the second round.  UD has five players on its roster who have earned all-conference honors in their careers – Santos, Alexander, Cheeks, Javon Bennett and Malachi Smith.

Dayton will also play an exhibition game on Saturday, Oct. 26 against Ashland at 6 p.m. ET.  The Flyers will open the 2024-25 season on Monday, Nov. 4 when Saint Francis visits UD Arena.  Dayton will welcome the 11th millionth fan to attend a Flyer home game at the Arena that night.
