COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University Department of Athletics has informed softball head coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly that she will not be returning as coach of the team for the 2025 campaign. A search for her successor will begin immediately.

Kovach Schoenly, who had one year remaining on her current contract, just completed her 12th season as head coach of the Buckeyes. Her teams posted a record of 367-226-1 and advanced to five NCAA Regionals. The Buckeyes were 155-113-1 in Big Ten Conference play under Kovach Schoenly.

“On behalf of the department, I want to thank Kelly for her leadership of the program and for the positive impact, both on and off the field, on the many student-athletes who wore the Scarlet and Gray during her tenure,” Mike Penner, Executive Associate Director of Athletics said.

Kovach Schoenly has been a collegiate head coach for 18 seasons, including six years at Miami University (Ohio), and has an overall career record of 554-375-2.

Megan Smith, the team’s director of operations, will be the contact for team-related questions during this transition.
