Cleveland Guardians News: RHP Carlos Carrasco returns to the organization

CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Guardians announced the following addition to their 2024 Major League Spring Training camp roster:

Signed free agent RHP Carlos Carrasco to a Minor League contract with a non-roster invitation to Major League camp.

Carrasco, 36, returns to the Guardians organization after spending 11 seasons at the Major League level with Cleveland from 2009-2020, recording an 88-73 record with a 3.77 ERA in 242 games/195 starts (520ER/1242.1IP). His 1305 strikeouts rank fourth-most in the 123-year history of the franchise while his 9.5 strikeouts per 9.0IP rank second among the 942 players who have pitched for the club. His vast community efforts in the Cleveland and Tampa communities as well as his native Venezuela earned him the Roberto Clemente Award in 2019, becoming the third Cleveland player to earn Major League Baseball’s most prestigious off-field honor.

Carlos spent the last three seasons (2021-23) in the New York Mets rotation, making 61 starts while posting a 15-7 mark in 2022 across 29 starts (3.97 ERA, 67ER/152.0IP/152SO).
