COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 12/12 Ohio State women’s basketball team (15-3, 6-1 B1G) travels to Illinois (8-9, 2-5 B1G) on Thursday for a 7 p.m. ET tip. The game will be broadcast on Peacock and AM1460.
- Ohio State holds a 15-3 record this season and is 6-1 in conference play after a 100-92 overtime win against then No. 2/2 Iowa on Sunday in front of a soldout crowd and the largest indoor women’s basketball crowd this regular season.
- The first Big Ten women’s game to air on NBC saw the most viewers for a regular season women’s basketball game on any network since 2010 with a peak of 3.9 million and an average of 1.93 million watching.
- Cotie McMahon led OSU with a career-high 33 points and a season-high 12 rebounds. All five starters scored in double figures – Jacy Sheldon (24), Taylor Thierry (11), Rebeka Mikulášiková (10) and Celeste Taylor (10). McMahon was named player of the week by the AP, Naismith Trophy and Big Ten and earned a spot in the USBWA Starting Five.
- The Buckeyes had five players with multiple made three-pointers for the first time since Feb. 7, 2010 when they faced Penn State on the road.
- Illinois enters the game with an 8-9 overall record and is 2-5 in Big Ten play having won two of the last three games, beating Northwestern and Rutgers.
- The Fighting Illini have fallen to Michigan, then No. 16 Indiana, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Maryland in conference play.
- Illinois has four of its starters averaging double figures, led by Genesis Bryant (14.9 ppg). Kendall Bostic leads the Fighting Illini on the boards by averaging 8.9 rpg, which ranks third in the Big Ten.
- Ohio State leads 55-20 in the all-time series against Illinois and 21-14 when playing in Champaign. The Buckeyes hold a six-game win streak against Illinois, including the only meeting of the 2022-23 season.
- On Jan. 8, 2023, Ohio State earned an 87-81 home win against Illinois to improve to 17-0 on the season and keep its streak alive for the best start in program history.
