Holmes Was Also Named Atlantic 10 Co-Player Of The Week

WASHINGTON, D.C. – University of Dayton forward DaRon Holmes II has been named the National Player of the Week by NCAA March Madness after leading Dayton to its 10th consecutive win at Duquesne on Friday.

Holmes was also named the Atlantic 10’s Co-Player of the Week.

The 6-foot-10 junior from Goodyear, Ariz. had his third double-double in the last seven games with 33 points and 12 rebounds.  He scored his 33 points in 31 minutes of action and took just 18 shots.  He made 12 of 18 field goal attempts, including three of his five three pointers.

When Duquesne chopped a Flyer lead from 14 points to four midway through the second half, Holmes scored 14 of UD’s next 16 points to take his team’s advantage back up to 14 with four minutes to play in the 72-62 road win.

Holmes leads the A-10 in scoring (18.7) and is the only player in the league’s top 10 in scoring, rebounding, overall field goal percentage, three-point field goal percentage and blocked shots.

He is also the only player in the nation who currently has more than 30 dunks, 30 blocked shots and 30 assists.

Holmes shared the A-10 Player of the Week honor with Richmond’s Jordan King.

Dayton is 13-2 overall and tied for first in the A-10 at 3-0 with Rhode Island and Richmond.

The Flyers are home for two games this week, hosting Saint Louis Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. ET, and Rhode Island Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. ET.
