It is also the best start for a first-year head coach in the volleyball program’s 49-year history. Wednesday’s win over Penn State was the first victory over a ranked opponent this season. Friday’s triumph marked the first time Ohio State had beaten Illinois since Nov. 11, 2015 and the first win in Champaign since Oct. 10, 2015. It was the first series sweep of the Illini since the 2015 season.
