RECENT MATCHES VS. COLUMBUS CREW
The New England Revolution and Columbus Crew will square off in their 84th overall meeting in all competitions on Saturday evening in a Fourth of July weekend showdown. This game will make history as the first-ever match played at Columbus’ new digs, Lower.com Field.
These two original MLS clubs have battled against one another since 1996. Their storied history includes eight postseason meetings, most recently highlighted by last year’s clash in the Eastern Conference Final at Historic Crew Stadium. The Revs fell to the hosts, 1-0, and Columbus went on to be crowned the 2020 MLS Cup champions.
The sides have battled once since then at Gillette Stadium on May 16, when New England claimed a 1-0 victory over Columbus with a late game winner off the bench from Adam Buksa.
The Revs hit the road for a second consecutive game as Columbus opens their new stadium. New England is coming off a road loss, falling 2-1 at FC Dallas this past Sunday. Head coach Bruce Arena said that it was a poor performance, but the group is looking to bounce back at Columbus on Saturday. Despite the loss, the Revs are still No. 1 in the East, going 7-2-2 through 11 games. Meanwhile, Columbus sits eight points back at fifth place with a game in hand (4-3-3). The Crew will be hungry for a victory as they are winless in their last two matches.
As the Revs look to bounce back from a rare loss and claim the first-ever victory at Lower.com Field, this will be a battle that you won’t want to miss.
Overall Record vs. Crew: 24-38-13
Away Record vs. Crew: 8-21-7
AMERICANA PREMATCH JERSEYS
The Revs will be sporting their ‘Americana’ prematch jerseys during warmups before each game throughout the month of July. Taking inspiration from the iconic USA 1994 World Cup shirt, the 2021 ‘Americana’ prematch jerseys aim to help all the U.S. sides commemorate Independence Day on July 4.
Fans can also purchase their ‘Americana’ prematch jerseys at the Gillette Stadium ProShop. These festive prematch jerseys are already sold out online at MLSstore.com.
SHOW YOUR COLORS
On Saturday the Revs will be sporting “The Original,” New England’s primary kit designed as a nod to the club’s original 1996 look. The sleek white stripe across the jersey echoes the angled stripes across the ’96 kit, while the blue top is complemented by red shorts similar to those worn by the Revolution’s first-ever squad.
