COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew today announced that it has loaned forward Miguel Berry to San Diego Loyal SC of the United Soccer League Championship for the 2021 season. The Crew retains the right to recall the player during the loan.
“We believe that while on loan Miguel will get the crucial playing time that he needs to continue to develop as a player and stay sharp,” said Columbus Crew President & General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “Last year, Miguel made great progress during his time with San Diego Loyal FC and we look forward to continuing to monitor his progress as a young professional.”
Berry was selected by Columbus Crew with the seventh overall pick in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft and later signed with the Club on February 7. To date, the forward has made three appearances (one start) for the Black & Gold across all competitions. Prior to joining The Crew, the forward made 72 appearances (69 starts) for the University of San Diego while registering 38 goals and 16 assists from 2016-2019.
