DAYTON – The University of Dayton men’s basketball team officially kicks off the 2025-26 campaign on Monday night against Canisius University at 7 p.m. in the Epicenter of College Basketball, UD Arena.

The Flyers and Griffins showdown can be seen on Spectrum News 1 and is available via ESPN+ stream.


Dayton is coming off its second impressive exhibition victory, taking down Bowling Green 90-59 in UD Arena in the final preseason tune-up at UD Arena.

The Flyers outscored the Falcons by 34 points in the second half.

Senior Javon Bennett led the Flyers with 25 points in the game, while junior De’Shayne Montgomery added 16 points, eight rebounds and a team-high six assists and sophomore Amaël L’Etang finished in double-figures with 15 points.

Dayton finished the final 5:58 of the contest on a 24-6 run, shooting a perfect 13-for-13 from the floor in the process.

The starting lineup for the Flyers against Bowling Green was:
Javon Bennett (Sr. – G), De’Shayne Montgomery (Jr. – G), Keonte Jones (Sr. – F), Jacob Conner (Sr. – F), and Amaël L’Etang (So. – F).

UD and BG played even through the first seven minutes of the second half, but the Flyers erupted over the final 11:49 of the game, turning the defensive effort to full throttle and out-scoring Bowling Green 47-16 through the rest of the game.

Dayton shot 50.8% from the floor for the game, including a blistering 68.8% in the second half, while BG was held to 39.2% overall. The Flyers dominated the paint, outscoring the Falcons 38-14 inside, while also making more three-pointers (11 to 8) and making more free throws (19) than BG attempted (17).
