TEAM NOTES                       

  • The Blue Jackets had their three-game points streak against the Capitals (2-0-1) snapped with tonight’s regulation loss.
  • Columbus dropped the opening game of its first back-to-back set of the season with tonight’s loss to Washington. The Jackets will finish the set with tomorrow’s game in Pittsburgh.  The club plays 15 back-to-back sets in 2025-26.
  • The Blue Jackets outshot the Capitals tonight 35-to-30 and has outshot its opponents in three-straight games and in five of the seven games played this season.

PLAYER NOTES                                                                                                                                                                        

  • Denton Mateychuk (2-1-3, 7 GP) scored the club’s lone goal and has notched goals in back-to-back games for the first time in his NHL career.
  • Sean Monahan (0-2-2, 7 GP) collected an assist for the second-straight game with his helper on Mateychuk’s goal. He improved to 9-10-19 with four multi-point efforts in 25 career games vs. Washington and has assists in five-straight games (1-5-6) after tonight as well as 4-6-10 in 13 career games played on home ice.
  • LW Dmitri Voronkov (3-4-7, 7 GP) assisted on Mateychuk’s goal to stretch his points streak to three-straight games (1-2-3).  He has recorded points in six of the club’s seven contests in 2025-26.  The forward has now picked up 2-3-5 in eight career outings against the Capitals, with points in each of the last three games (1-2-3).
