College football is officially changing to a single offseason transfer portal window, eliminating the spring window for FBS and FCS. The dates for the new lone window are not official yet.

In previous seasons, two windows were open. One from Dec. 9 to Dec. 28 and another from April 16 to April 25. Athletes do not have to decide which school they would like to attend during this window. It is simply a timeframe for players to declare their names into the transfer portal.

The current proposal for the new window would run from Jan. 2 to Jan. 11, overlapping with the College Football Playoff. Players participating in the CFP during this window will be allotted five days after their team’s season ends to enter the portal.
