Dayton Flyers Football Shuts Out Thomas More, 38-0

The Flyers Dominated On Both Ends Of The Field Saturday

 

DAYTON – The University of Dayton football team played its first home game Saturday against Thomas More with a win of 38-0.

Dayton (1-1) had great game shutting out Thomas More (0-2) with a great home opening win.

GAME RECAP
1st Quarter – Dayton 0, Thomas More 0

  • Dayton took the opening kickoff and kept the ball for 11:49 which is the longest possession of the season.
  • Dayton had 20 plays on the first drive for 59 yards.
  • Flyers tried for a field goal to get on the board, but missed wide left which switched possession over to Thomas More towards the end of the quarter.

2nd Quarter – Dayton 14, Thomas More 0

  • Touchdown for Flyers by Gavin Lochow passed by Bryce Schondelmyer, at 4:43, with an 80 yard drive, 10 plays, and a three-yard pass
  • Thomas More on Dayton side, pass dropped, turnover to Dayton
  • Touchdown for UD by Lochow pass by Schondelmyer, at 1:39, with a 62-yard drive, 10 plays and a three-yard pass.
  • At 10:51 Luke Hansen had a 40 yard rush up the middle.

3rd Quarter – Dayton 21, Thomas More 0

  • UD touchdown by Hansen for a two-yard rush off of PAT Kick by Robby Smart
  • Thomas More had possession for 9:29 minutes with 3 drives throughout the quarter without scoring.
  • End of 3rd quarter Dayton had 123 rushing yards while Thomas More had a total of 71 yards.

4th Quarter – Dayton 31, Thomas More 0

  • Long drive resulted in a turnover on downs as the Dayton defense held on.
  • Flyer touchdown by Hansen for a 51 yard rush at 2:05 with three plays
  • 37-yard field goal by Robby Smart at 4:44, 10 plays. First Field Goal of the season.
  • Dayton Sam Schmiesing intercepted throw meant for Thomas More #16 turning possession over to Dayton.
  • UD Touchdown by Michael Mussari from a pass from Drew VanVleet at 2:59 with a 46-yard rush, and eight plays.

1000 – Mason Hackett and Luke Hansen both achieved over 1000 yards for their career during this game.
110 – Bryce Schondelmyer had a total of 110 passing yards for the game, had 2 passing touchdowns this game
