“Walnut Hills is excited to be selected for this year’s Community Makeover,” said Mona M. Jenkins, President of the Walnut Hills Area Council. “We appreciate all our partners and organizations who are willing to collaborate and invest in our neighborhood. The impact this project will have on our residents, especially our youth, is profound and will contribute to the long-term well-being of our community.”

Preliminary work will begin in the spring and the effort will culminate on Thursday, July 24 when more than 400 volunteers will join Walnut Hills community leaders for the day-long service project.

The success of each Community Makeover relies on engagement with neighborhood leaders, partners and businesses. Several local organizations, including the Walnut Hills Redevelopment Foundation, Walnut Hills Area Council, and the Walnut Hills Business Group are already playing an active role. Other partners, including Keep Cincinnati Beautiful, Civic Garden Center and Urban Farming Initiative, are taking on an additional project, focusing on several Gilbert Avenue landscape medians to bring more enhanced green spaces to the neighborhood.
