Former Cardinals Manager and Gold Glove Catcher Will Be Keynote Speaker for Postgame Event on July 12 Presented by Greater St. Louis Area Fellowship of Christian Athletes
The St. Louis Cardinals announced details for the 33rd annual Christian Day at the Ballpark on Saturday, July 12, presented by the Greater St. Louis area Fellowship of Christian Athletes, featuring a postgame program highlighted by former Cardinals player/manager Mike Matheny and Christian music artist Josh Wilson.
Christian Day at the Ballpark is a day of faith, fellowship, and baseball which begins when the Cardinals take on the Atlanta Braves at 1:15 PM. Following the game, all fans are welcome to stay for a special postgame program featuring a 30-minute testimony of faith by Matheny and a 45-minute on-field concert from Wilson.
“We are humbled and grateful to sponsor this special day that boldly lifts up the name of Jesus in the heart of Busch Stadium,” said Erik Arneson, Multi-Area Director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes – Greater St. Louis. “Christian Day is a powerful opportunity for the community to come together in faith and fellowship, and we’re excited to see how God moves through this event.”
Matheny played 13 Major League seasons with four different franchises from 1994-2006, including five seasons (2000-04) with the Cardinals. A four-time Gold Glove winner, he served as the Cardinals starting catcher for four N.L. Central Division championship teams and the 2004 National League champions. Named manager of the Cardinals shortly after the organization won its 11th World Series title in November 2011, Matheny led the team for parts of eight seasons, accumulating 591 wins (5th-most in franchise history) while capturing three consecutive division titles and the 2013 NL pennant. He later went on to manage the Kansas City Royals for three seasons from 2020-22.

Wilson is a multi-instrumentalist and live-looping enthusiast, and has been known to play and record as many as 20 instruments on stage. Since signing his first record deal with Capitol Records, Wilson has become a staple at radio, amassing multiple top 10 Billboard hits, including “Savior, Please,” “I Refuse,” “Fall Apart,” “Carry Me,” “Before the Morning,” “That Was Then, This Is Now,” “Dream Small,” and “Revolutionary.” He’s toured with some of the genre’s biggest acts, including Third Day, Steven Curtis Chapman, Matthew West, and Casting Crowns.
Operating nationally since 1954 and celebrating their 60th anniversary in the Greater St. Louis Area this year, FCA remains committed to engaging, equipping, and empowering coaches and athletes to grow in their faith and impact the world for Christ — both on and off the field.
