Prior to today’s game against the New York Mets, the Phillies returned infielder/outfielder Weston Wilson from his rehab assignment with triple-A Lehigh Valley and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list. To make room for him on the 26-man roster, infielder/outfielder Kody Clemens was designated for assignment.

Phillies President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski made the announcement.

Wilson, 30, appeared in 10 games as part of a rehab assignment between single-A Clearwater and Lehigh Valley. He posted a 17.4 percent walk rate with eight walks in 46 plate appearances while scoring nine runs. Defensively, he made starts in left field (6), first base (1), second base (1) and third base (1) while also making one start as designated hitter.

Last season, Wilson posted a 1.025 OPS in 51 plate appearances against left-handed pitchers. He was one of 226 right-handed hitters with at least 50 plate appearances against left-handers and his 1.025 OPS ranked fourth out of that group of 226, trailing only Aaron Judge (1.240 OPS), Heliot Ramos (1.189 OPS) and Tyler O’Neill (1.179 OPS). In 60 career plate appearances against left-handed pitchers, Wilson is slashing .333/.450/.646 with a 1.096 OPS, four doubles, a triple, three home runs and has 10 walks to 14 strikeouts.

Originally selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 17th round of the 2016 MLB Draft, Wilson was signed by the Phillies as a minor league free agent on Jan. 3, 2023.

Clemens, 28, appeared in seven games for the Phillies this year, six as a pinch-hitter. Originally selected by the Detroit Tigers in the third round of the 2018 MLB Draft, Clemens was acquired by the Phillies in a trade with Detroit on Jan. 7, 2023.
