COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 15/13 Ohio State women’s basketball team (26-6, 13-5 B1G) faces No. 20/20 Tennessee (23-9, 8-8 SEC) on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The game will be broadcast on ESPN and 97.1FM.
- Ohio State advanced to the NCAA second round for the fourth consecutive year with a 71-51 win against No. 13 seed Montana State on Friday evening. The Buckeyes used an extended 24-0 run at the end of the second quarter and beginning of the third quarter to give themselves a comfortable advantage.
- OSU had five players score in double figures – Thierry (16), McMahon (15), Gray (15), J. Cambridge (12) and Petty (11). This is the first time the Buckeyes have had five players with 10 or more points each in an NCAA Tournament game since March 23, 2010 against Mississippi State.
- Ohio State finished with 14 steals, which is tied for second among all-time NCAA single game program records.
- No. 20/20 Tennessee enters the game with a 23-9 overall record and finished the season 8-8 in conference play. The Lady Vols have three ranked wins on the season.
- In the NCAA first round game, Tennessee beat No. 12 seed USF by a 101-66 margin. The Lady Vols set program records for three-pointers made (16) and three-pointers attempted (37). Tennessee had four double-figure scorers with Talaysia Cooper leading the way with 20 points.
- This season, all five of the Lady Vols’ regular starters are averaging double figures, led by Cooper (16.8).
- Ohio State trails 3-10 in the all-time series against Tennessee. The teams are set for their fourth all-time meeting in an NCAA Tournament, but the first in Columbus.
- Tennessee has won all three of the previous NCAA Tournament games – 97-65 on March 18, 1996 in Knoxville, 85-75 on March 26, 2011 and 78-62 on March 25, 2016 with the latter two taking place at neutral sites.
