Ohio State Athletics News: Buckeyes Earn Academic All-Big Ten Honors

91 winter sport student-athletes recognized

 

COLUMBUS, Ohio – This winter, 91 Ohio State student-athletes received Academic All-Big Ten honors, the Big Ten Conference announced Wednesday. In all, 1,153 student-athletes from the conference who competed in winter sports were recognized. The complete list of Buckeye honorees is above.

The 103 Ohio State winter sport athletes join a school-record 147 Buckeyes from fall sports who were honored in December. Winter sports include men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s gymnastics, men’s hockey, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and wrestling. Spring and at-large sports selections will be announced in May. Ohio State was one of just four B1G schools with at least 90 winter sport honorees.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team (as verified by being on the official squad list as of March 1 for winter sports), have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

The men’s swimming and diving program led the Ohio State winter sports with 17 honorees, followed by men’s hockey and women’s swimming and diving program with 16 each. Men’s gymnastics, women’s gymnastics and wrestling each had 11, men’s basketball had five selections and women’s basketball had four.
