NCAA Bid: Akron Zips of the Mid-American Conference to Battle Arizona in First Round of NCAA Tournament

NCAA MEN’S BASKETBALL BRACKET

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men’s basketball team learned its fate for the 2025 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship on Sunday, March 16. The 13-seeded Zips (28-6) will battle the fourth-seeded Arizona Wildcats (22-12) in first-round action on Friday, March 21 at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Wa. as part of the East Regional.

This will be the first-ever meeting between Arizona and Akron.

The winner of Akron-Arizona will advance to face the winner of No. 5 Oregon and No. 12 Liberty in second-round play.

Akron and Arizona will be featured on truTV at 7:35 p.m. ET.

Akron will be making its seventh overall NCAA Division I Tournament appearance after previously qualifying in 1986, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2022 and 2024.
