MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU (23-8) will host Wright State (15-17) in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Barbasol Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship on Thursday night at the UPMC Events Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
RMU LATELY
The Colonials secured the tournament’s No. 1 seed by winning their first-ever Horizon League regular season championship with an 82-68 victory over IU Indy on February 27. RMU finished 15-5 in Horizon League play, finishing one game ahead of No. 2 seed Milwaukee and No. 3 seed Cleveland State.
COLONIALS BRING HOME THE HARDWARE
The Horizon League announced Monday that Alvaro Folgueiras has been named Player of the Year, Amarion Dickerson is the Defensive Player of the Year, and Andy Toole is the Coach of the Year. Additionally, Folgueiras was selected to the All-League First Team. Kam Woods earned All-League Second Team honors, while Dickerson was named to both the All-League Second Team and the All-Defensive Team. Dickerson is also a finalist for the Sportsmanship Award.
WRIGHT STATE LATELY
The No. 8 seed Raiders earned a berth in the quarterfinals after a 98-85 victory over IU Indy on March 4 in the first round of the tournament. Wright State finished 8-12 in Horizon League play. Two Raiders received postseason Horizon League honors: Brandon Noel was named to the All-League Second Team, and Solomon Callaghan was selected to the All-Freshman Team.
RMU AND WRIGHT STATE HISTORY
RMU and Wright State first met in 1978 in a home-and-home series at the WSU Physical Education Building and John Jay Center, with the Raiders winning both matchups. The series went on hiatus for 43 years before resuming in 2021, RMU’s first season in the Horizon League. Wright State leads the all-time series 10-2, including a 4-1 record in Moon Township and a 3-1 mark at the UPMC Events Center.
RMU AND WRIGHT STATE LAST TIME OUT
Wright State scored the final 10 points of the game, overcoming a double-digit second-half deficit to snap RMU’s six-game winning streak with a 66-64 victory on February 2.

RMU IN THE HL CHAMPIONSHIP
The Colonials are 2-4 all-time in the Horizon League Championship. Of their six tournament games, five have been played on the road (1-4), while one was at the UPMC Events Center (1-0). This will be the first time RMU and Wright State face each other in the Horizon League Championship.

The 2025 Barbasol Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship moves to Corteva Coliseum in Indianapolis for the semifinal and final rounds. The highest remaining seed will face the lowest remaining seed in the first semifinal game on March 10 at 7 p.m., followed by the second-highest remaining seed playing the second-lowest remaining seed at 9:30 p.m. The championship game is set for March 11 at 7 p.m.
