ATHENS, Ohio – The Miami University men’s basketball team dropped to Ohio 75-66 Saturday afternoon. Antwone Woolfolk led the RedHawks in scoring with 16 points, while Peter Suder (15), Kam Craft (12) and Eian Elmer (10) also scored in double figures. AJ Clayton (20) led the Ohio Bobcats in scoring. Miami falls to 21-8 (12-4 MAC), while Ohio rises to 16-13 (10-6 MAC).
How it Happened:
- Elmer opened the game with a pair of triples to give Miami a 6-4 advantage. A couple of layups and a Reece Potter dunk extended Miami’s lead to 12-4 with just over five minutes of action played. The Bobcats answered with a 7-0 run to come within one point at 12-11. Ohio went on to even the score at 15 apiece.
- Woolfolk scored seven straight points for Miami, including a three to stay above the Bobcats at 23-22. Ohio responded with a 9-0 scoring burst to jump ahead 31-23. A pair of free throws from Elmer and a corner three from Suder made it a one-possession game at 31-28. The Red and White entered the intermission trailing 40-33.
- Suder opened the second half of play with a turnaround jumper and traditional three-point play. With the Bobcats looking to pull away at 52-40, the RedHawks outscored Ohio 9-2 to make it a 54-49 ballgame with 13:38 remaining. Ohio answered with a run of their own, reclaiming a double-digit lead at 62-51.
- A traditional three-point play from Woolfolk and a shot from beyond the arc by Mekhi Cooper brought Miami back within striking distance at 64-59. With under five minutes to play, Suder sunk his second triple of the game to make it a four-point game at 68-64. Despite the effort, Miami came no closer, falling 75-66.
Game Notes:
- Suder led all players with nine rebounds.
- Suder recorded a team-high three steals.
- Miami outrebounded Ohio 40 to 32.
