INDIANAPOLIS/DAYTON – The Horizon League released its 2024-25 Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team on Wednesday afternoon, recognizing student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom, with Wright State redshirt-junior Brandon Noel among the student-athletes honored in balloting by the League’s faculty athletics representatives for the third straight season, while redshirt-freshman Solomon Callaghan named an honorable mention for his work in the classroom.
Noel, a graduate student working on his Master of Science in Chemistry, has started in all 28 games for the Raiders through February 16, averaging 18.9 points per game (second in the Horizon) and 8.0 rebounds per contest (third in the Horizon). He has eight double-doubles this season and has recorded double-digits scoring in 24 of 28 games, with 20-plus points 15 times.
The 2023 HL Winter Scholar-Athlete of the Season in addition to his spot on the 2022-23 and 2023-24 Horizon League Men’s Basketball all-academic teams, Noel’s work in the classroom has earned him a spot on the Wright State University Dean’s List and he has been named to the Horizon League academic honor roll every semester he has been eligible (Fall 2021-Fall 2024). He graduated from Wright State with his undergraduate degree in Chemistry in Spring 2024.
Callaghan, a marketing major, has ppeared in 27 games with seven starts through February 16, averaging 6.4 points per game while playing just shy of 22 minutes per contest with six double digit scoring games this season, including three straight contests from February 8-14. His work in the classroom has earned him a spot on the Wright State University Dean’s List and he has been named to the Horizon League academic honor roll every semester he has been eligible (Fall 2024).
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team’s overall contests. An Honorable Mention team is awarded to student-athletes who received at least 25 percent of votes, but did not make the All-Academic team.
