FRIDAY: Miami continues conference play by welcoming Kent State to Millett Hall on Friday, Feb. 21 at 8 p.m. Entering this game, the RedHawks rank ninth nationally in three-point percentage (.390), 11th in effective field goal percentage (.569), 17th in threes per game (10.3), 27th in field goal percentage (.484), 29th in turnovers forced per game (14.65), 38th in scoring offense (80.8) and 44th in turnover margin (2.5). Miami also leads the MAC in six statistical categories, including steals per game (8.2).

RECENT ACTION: The Miami University men’s basketball team dropped to Eastern Michigan Tuesday night 76-66 in Ypsilanti. Eian Elmer led the RedHawks with 19 points, while Kam Craft was the next-highest scorer for Miami with 11 points. Evan Ipsaro totaled three steals (tied for the most in his career), and Miami recorded under 10 turnovers for the seventh time this season.
ABOUT KENT STATE: Kent State is coming off a 17-17 (8-10 MAC) season in 2023-24. Head coach Rob Senderoff is in his 14th season with the Golden Flashes. Heading into the 2024-25 season, the MAC Men’s Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll picked the Golden Flashes to finish third in the conference.

Kent State is currently 18-8 (8-5 MAC), having won its last five games. The Golden Flashes have two players who average double figures in scoring, which includes VonCameron Davis (15.6) and Jalen Sullinger (14.3). Davis also leads the team in steals per game (1.4), and Marquis Barnett follows closely behind (1.2). Cian Medley leads the team in assists per game (4.2), and Cli’Ron Hornbeak has recorded the most blocks per game (1.3). Delrecco Gillespie (7.0) and Hornbeak (6.0) lead the team in rebounds per game. Davis was named to the preseason All-MAC First Team, and Sullinger was named to the preseason All-MAC Second Team. The Golden Flashes are first in the MAC in defensive points allowed per game (66.7) and opponent field goal percentage (.414).

THE SERIES WITH THE GOLDEN FLASHES: Friday will mark the 155th time Miami and Kent State have faced off. The RedHawks head into this game leading 94-60 in the series. The RedHawks have the advantage in Oxford 54-20. The last time Miami faced off with the Golden Flashes, the Red and White secured a 70-61 win in Kent on Jan. 18, 2025. Brant Byers led Miami in scoring with 15 points, while Eian Elmer (14), Mekhi Cooper (12) and Antwone Woolfolk (10) added double figures.

UP NEXT: The RedHawks host the Northern Illinois Huskies on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.
