#20 Michigan Edges Buckeyes with Late Rally in Rivalry Win at Ohio State, 86-83

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Led by double-doubles from big men Vladislav Goldin and Danny Wolf, the No. 20-ranked University of Michigan men’s basketball team took down Ohio State on the road on Sunday (Feb. 16) at Value City Arena.

Leaders and Best

Goldin scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Wolf followed with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists. Nimari Burnett also reached double figures with 11 points. In his return to Columbus, Roddy Gayle Jr. scored nine points and pulled down eight rebounds.

Turning Point

With the game tied at 80 with under two minutes to go, Gayle gave Michigan an 82-80 lead. After a defensive stop and another U-M basket, Ohio State made a three-pointer with 32 seconds left to make it 84-83. Wolf then made one of two free throw attempts before Michigan’s defense forced a Buckeye miss, with Rubin Jones grabbing the rebound to seal the 86-83 victory.

• Michigan’s win over Ohio State marks its 20th victory of the season, the 32nd time in program history the Wolverines have reached 20-plus wins and the first time since the 2020-21 season.

• Wolf recorded his Big Ten-leading 11th double-double and remains the only player in the conference to average double digits in both points and rebounds.

• With three three-pointers at Ohio State, Burnett surpassed 100 career makes (102) at Michigan.

• Wolf surpassed 600 career rebounds (604).

• Jones’s eight points mark his new career high in Big Ten play.

What’s Next

Michigan will return to Ann Arbor to host No. 11 Michigan State in an in-state battle to stay atop the Big Ten standings at Crisler Center for U-M’s annual Maize Out on Friday (Feb. 21). The game will be broadcast live on Fox, with tipoff set for 8 p.m.
