Musketeers and Friars are meeting for the first time this season.

 

CINCINNATI — The Xavier University Musketeers, 14-10 overall and 6-7 in the BIG EAST Conference, are back on the road vs. the Providence College Friars, 11-13 overall and 5-8 in the BIG EAST, for a Wednesday night game at 8 p.m.in Providence, R.I. Both teams are looking to bounce back from weekend road losses.

Xavier has not played Providence or Butler yet this season. XU has completed its home-and-away series with St. John’s, UConn, Marquette, Georgetown and Villanova.

• Xavier graduate student Zach Freemantle leads the team in scoring (sixth in the BIG EAST at 16.6 ppg.) and rebounding (fifth in the BIG EAST at 7.0 rpg.). He is fourth in the BIG EAST in defensive rebounding at 5.4 drpg. Freemantle has scored in double figures in every game he has played this season (21) and has an active double-figure scoring streak of 22 games.

• Xavier graduate student Dante Maddox Jr. was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll after averaging 15.0 points in two games this past week, while shooting 75 percent (9-12) overall, including 75 percent (6-8) from 3-point territory. He scored an XU career-high 24 at Villanova.
• Xavier graduate student Marcus Foster posted his first double-double as a Musketeer with 17 points and an XU career-high 13 rebounds vs. Georgetown on Feb. 4. Foster, who is third on the team in rebounding at 4.9 rpg., has snagged a team-high 7.8 rpg. over the last six games.
• Xavier sophomore Dailyn Swain, who had a career-high 18-point game vs. Georgetown, has averaged 12.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game over the last six games. Swain, who is averaging 11.0 ppg. and 5.5 rpg. in BIG EAST play, is fourth in the BIG EAST Conference in free throw percentage at .835.
• Xavier junior Ryan Conwell is second on the team and eighth in the BIG EAST in scoring at 15.5 ppg. Conwell ranks fourth in the BIG EAST at 2.8 3-point field goals made per game. His 67 3-pointers made rank fourth in the BIG EAST and 53rd in the nation.
• Xavier graduate student Dayvion McKnight leads XU in assists at 4.5 apg. (eighth in the BIG EAST) and is fourth in the BIG EAST and 41st in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.57. He is 10th in the BIG EAST in free throw percentage at .778.
• Xavier is third in the BIG EAST and 18th in the nation in free throw percentage at .780. XU has four players ranked in the top 15 in the BIG EAST in free throw percentage: Dailyn Swain (fourth at .835), Ryan Conwell (fifth at .802), Dayvion McKnight (10th at .778) and Zach
Freemantle 
(14th at .742).
• Xavier leads the BIG EAST in fastbreak points (ninth in the nation in at 16.0 ppg.) and is second in 3-point percentage (15th in the nation at .385) and free throw percentage (18th in the nation at .780). XU is third in the BIG EAST in assist-to-turnover ratio (57th in the nation at 1.41) and assists per game (37th in the nation at 16.4 apg.).
