ATHENS, Ohio — The Ohio men’s basketball team (12-10, 6-4 MAC) is back in Athens on Saturday, Feb. 8 for a Sibs Weekend matchup against App State () for the second part of the MAC-SBC Challenge. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. inside the Convocation Center. The game can be seen on ESPN+ where Marty Bannister, Sam Hyman, Jason Preston and Taniah Stephens will have the call.
The Bobcats’ matchup can also be heard on the Ohio Sports Network from Learfield, presented by Holzer Health System. Jason Toy begins his first season on the mic for the Bobcats, and will be joined by Ohio alum Rob Cornelius, who has been a part of the broadcasts for two decades. WXTQ (Power 105) in Athens returns as the 11-station net- work’s flagship.
STORYLINES
• This is the third all-time meeting between Ohio and App State.
• Ohio leads the all-time series, 2-0.
• Ohio and App State last met on Nov. 19, 2014 in Athens, with Ohio winning, 73-47.
• Prior to that, Ohio and App State met on Dec.27, 1991 in Casper, Wyoming for the Cowboy Classic.
• Ohio has registered an impressive 575-183 (.756) all-time record at the Convocation Center, which opened in 1968.
• This season the Bobcats are 9-1 in the Convo.
• Ohio is 70-15 in the Convo under Boals in the last six seasons.
• Against Toledo on Jan. 28, AJ Brown and Jackson Paveletzke both scored 22 points, with Brown recording a career-high with eight rebounds.
• Ohio win over Kent State on Jan. 24 is the third-straight wins for the Bobcats over the Flashes. It is the first time since Jan. 26, 2013-Jan. 8, 2014 that Ohio has won three-straight over Kent State.
• Junior guard Jackson Paveletzke scored a career-high 28 points at EMU on Jan. 21.
• Graduate student guard Shereef Mitchell, in his first start since Nov. 9, scored a career-high 27 points on Jan. 17 at Akron.
• AJ Clayton scored his 1,000the career point on Jan. 11 against NIU.
• Senior forward AJ Clayton had a 31-point performance on Jan. 11 against NIU. Clayton hit a career-high nine threes in the victory.
• The Bobcats currently rank 165th in the Feb. 7 NET Rankings.
SCOUTING APP STATE
App State enters the matchup against Ohio with a 14-9 overall record and am 8-4 mark in Sun Belt play after defeating Southern Miss. at home on Wednesday.
App State averages 69.2 points a game, while shooting .450 from the field, .353 from three and .650 from the line, while opponents are averaging 63.5 points per game, while shooting .384 from the field, .282 from three and .738 from the line.
App State averages 37.3 rebounds, 13.4 assists, 5.9 steals and 3.7 blocks a game, while forcing 9.7 turnovers a game. Meanwhile, App State opponents average 35.7 rebounds, 11.0 assists, 7.4 steals and 3.2 blocks a game, while forcing the Mountaineers to turn the ball over an average of 11.3 times a contest.
Individually, Myles Tate leads App State with 16.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 5.7 assists a game, while shooting .413 from the field and .363 from three. CJ Huntley adds 15.0 points and 7.5 rebounds, while shooting .506 from the field, while Jalil Beaubrun averages 9.8 points, while shooting .538 from the field.

Ohio is currently 12-10 overall and 6-4 in MAC play after defeating Western Michigan, 94-69, in Athens on Tuesday.
Ohio is averaging 80.5 points per game, while shooting .473 from the field, .361 from three and .762 from the line, while opponents are averaging 75.2 points per game, while shooting .449 from the field, .376 from three and .673 from the line.
