COLLEGE PARK, MD – On the heels of a four-game win streak and a pair of ranked wins, the Maryland men’s basketball team jumped into the Associated Press Top 25 today ranked No. 18 overall. This marks the first AP Top 25 ranking for the Terps since Feb. 27, 2023 and is the highest since Maryland was ranked No. 13 on Dec. 5, 2022.

Maryland is currently 17-5 overall with a 7-4 mark in Big Ten play which has the Terps fourth in the league standings. Maryland’s ranking was bolstered not just by its recent performances, four straight wins and victories in six of the last seven, but by its high metric profile: No. 15 in NCAA NET, No. 18 in KenPom, No. 13 in Torvik Rankings, and No. 12 in EvanMiya.com Rankings.

The Terps currently own five Quad 1 wins this season which is the seventh most nationally. Maryland is the third-ranked Big Ten team in the NCAA NET and is the fifth-highest ranked team on KenPom.com. Of its five losses this year, four came on the road with three of those against Top 25 teams.

Maryland has two key games this week starting Thursday (Feb. 6) at Ohio State before returning home to host Rutgers on Sunday, Feb. 9. Maryland has won 10 straight home games and its 13 home wins this year are the third most among major conference schools (Missouri – 15, St. John’s – 14).

Tickets for all remaining home games can be purchased online at www.umterps.com/tickets, by calling the Terrapin Ticket Office at 800-462-TERP, or by emailing for more information at [email protected].
