Musketeers are shooting to even their BIG EAST record at 6-6.

 

CINCINNATI — The Xavier University Musketeers, 13-9 overall and 5-6 in the BIG EAST Conference, host the Georgetown University Hoyas, 14-8 overall and 5-6 in the BIG EAST, on Tuesday night at 8:30 p.m. at Cintas Center. Xavier is coming off a loss at Creighton on Jan. 29, while Georgetown is coming off a win over Butler on Jan. 31. GU won the first meeting this season 69-63 on Jan. 3 in Washington, D.C.

The first 3,000 fans on Tuesday night will receive a Sean Miller bobblehead.

X FACTORS

• Xavier, 13-9 overall and 5-6 in the BIG EAST Conference, is playing Georgetown for the second time. XU has already played St. John’s, UConn and Marquette twice.

• Xavier has four players that are averaging double figures in scoring: graduate student Zach Freemantle (fifth in the BIG EAST at 16.5 ppg.), junior Ryan Conwell (seventh in the BIG EAST at 16.3 ppg.), graduate student Dayvion McKnight (10.3 ppg.) and sophomore Dailyn Swain (10.0 ppg.).
• Xavier is third in the BIG EAST and 20th in the nation in free throw percentage at .778. XU has three players ranked in the top 15 in the BIG EAST in free throw percentage: Dailyn Swain (fourth at .831), Ryan Conwell (sixth at .821) and Dayvion McKnight (11th at .779).
• Xavier leads the BIG EAST in fastbreak points (ninth in the nation in at 16.2 ppg.) and is second in 3-point percentage (19th in the nation at .383). XU is third in the BIG EAST in free throw percentage (20th in the nation at .778), assist-to-turnover ratio (44th in the nation at 1.45) and assists per game (39th in the nation at 16.5 apg.).
• Xavier sophomore Dailyn Swain has averaged 13.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game over the last four games. Swain, who is averaging 11.0 ppg. and 5.5 rpg. in BIG EAST play, is fourth in the BIG EAST Conference free throw percentage at .831. He had a career-high 16 points and a career-high tying five assists vs. St. John’s on Jan. 22 at Madison Square Garden.
• Xavier graduate student Zach Freemantle leads the team in scoring (fifth in the BIG EAST at 16.5 ppg.) and rebounding (fourth in the BIG EAST at 7.4 rpg.). He is third in the BIG EAST in defensive rebounding at 5.6 drpg. Freemantle has scored in double figures in every game he has played this season (19) and has an active double-figure scoring streak of 20 games.
• Xavier junior Ryan Conwell, who had a team-high 20 points at Creighton, is second on the team and seventh in the BIG EAST in scoring at 16.3 ppg. Conwell, who had four 3-pointers at Creighton, ranks fourth in the BIG EAST and 38th in the nation at 3.0 3-point field goals made per game. His 65 3-pointers made rank third in the BIG EAST and 35th in the nation.

• Xavier graduate student Dayvion McKnight leads XU in assists at 4.7 apg. (seventh in the BIG EAST) and is third in the BIG EAST and 22nd in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.94. He is 11th in the BIG EAST in free throw percentage at .779.
