SATURDAY: Miami continues conference play by hosting Ohio at Millett Hall on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 3:30 p.m. Entering this game, Miami ranks third nationally in effective field goal percentage (0.586), sixth in field goal percentage (.499), sixth in three-point percentage (.397), 11th in threes per game (10.5), 25th in scoring offense (82.8), 29th in turnovers forced per game (15.15) and 38th in turnover margin (3.1). Miami also leads the MAC in seven statistical categories, including steals per game (8.6).

RECENT ACTION: Antwone Woolfolk scored a career-high 21 points and added 10 rebounds for his first career double-double as the Miami University men’s basketball team defeated Eastern Michigan 89-80 Tuesday night. The RedHawks placed a total of six players in double figures and snapped EMU’s three-game win streak. Brant Byers made the first start of his career and scored 12 points, finishing in double figures for the sixth consecutive game. With this victory, the RedHawks are off to their best start in MAC play since the 1998-99 season.

ABOUT OHIO: Ohio is coming off a 20-13 (13-5 MAC) season in 2023-24. Head coach Jeff Boals is in his sixth season with the Bobcats. Heading into the 2024-25 season, the MAC Men’s Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll picked the Bobcats to finish first in the conference. Aj Clayton was a First Team Preseason All-MAC selection, while Shereef Mitchell and AJ Brown were named to the Second Team.

Ohio is currently 11-9 (5-3 MAC), having dropped its last game to Toledo at home 83-86. Ohio’s top performers include Jackson Paveletzke (13.3), Brown (12.4) and Mitchell (10.9). Paveletzke leads the team with 5.2 assists per game (second in the conference). Brown leads the team with an average of 1.3 steals per game.

THE SERIES WITH THE BOBCATS: Saturday will mark the 216th time Miami and Ohio have faced off. The RedHawks head into this game trailing in the series 120-95. Miami has the advantage at home in the series, 64-41. The last time Miami faced off with the Bobcats, the Red and White fell 59-72 in Oxford.

UP NEXT: The RedHawks hit the road for a conference contest at Central Michigan on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m.

MID-MAJOR TOP 25 COACHES POLL: The Miami University men’s basketball team was selected to the Mid-Major Top 25® Poll for the third week in a row on Monday. The RedHawks were slotted No. 21 in the rankings after starting conference play 6-1. Now in its 26th season, the Mid-Major Top 25® is voted on by 31 Division I coaches. The RedHawks recently won eight straight games for the first time since the 1996-97 season.  The Red and White also started conference play 6-0 for the first time since the 2005-06 season.

BALANCING ACT: There have been four different games this year where six different RedHawks scored in double figures. Out of the 20 games Miami has played, there have also been nine different players who have led the team in scoring.
