CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Duke freshman guard/forward Cooper Flagg secured his eighth ACC Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week honor, sharing the award with California’s Jeremiah Wilkinson, the league announced on Monday, Jan. 27. Flagg helped Duke extend its winning streak to 13 games in the Blue Devils’ lone game of the week, a 63-56 road victory at Wake Forest on Saturday, Jan. 25.

The Newport, Maine native amassed a game-high 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and 7-of-9 from the foul line, while adding a team-best six assists along with seven rebounds and a blocked shot against the Demon Deacons, handing Wake Forest its first home loss of the season.

During a second half that saw the Blue Devils fall behind by six points with less than 10 minutes remaining, Flagg scored 15 of the Blue Devils’ 28 second-half points (54%). With his 24 points scored and six assists leading to 16 points, Flagg was responsible for 40 of Duke’s 63 points (63%) in Saturday’s ACC road victory.

Over the last 11 seasons (since the start of 2013-14), Duke has had an ACC Rookie of the Week in 94 of a possible 198 weeks (47.5%). Twenty-six different Blue Devils have won the award at least once in that time.

The Rookie of the Week recognition is Flagg’s eighth of the season and he has earned the honor in five out of the last six weeks.
