This Is The Second A-10 Rookie Award For The Flyer Frenchman
WASHINGTON, D.C. – University of Dayton freshman forward Amaël L’Etang has been named this week’s Atlantic 10 Under Armour Rookie of the Week for his performances last week in two Flyer wins over Duquesne and Saint Joseph’s.
L’Etang had two double-digit games in the wins, scoring 16 points at Duquesne and 14 vs. Saint Joseph’s. The seven-footer averaged 15.0 points and 5.0 rebounds, while shooting .522 (12-23( FG and .333 (4-12 3-pt.) for the week.
ESPN’s College GameDay anointed L’Etang its “Frenchman of the Week” and displayed his game-winning alley-oop layup against Loyola on Jan. 18.
UD’s three-game win streak coincides with L’Etang moving into the starting lineup.
Dayton is 14-6 overall, and currently 4-3 in the A-10. The Flyers are on the road for a pair of games this week. UD plays at St. Bonaventure on Tuesday and Saint Louis on Friday.
L’Etang came off the bench to score 11 points and grab three rebounds in 13 minutes of action against the Aggies. He made four of six field goals (4-for-4 inside the arc). He also had an assist and blocked a shot.
A native of Toulouse, France, L’Etang has played in all five games this year for the Flyers, averaging 7.2 points and 5.4 rebounds in 13.2 minutes per game.
