Xavier, looking to rebound from OT loss at St. John’s, Hosts No. 19 UConn tonight at 8 PM

CINCINNATI — The Xavier University Musketeers, 12-8 overall and 4-5 in the BIG EAST Conference, host the No. 19 University of Connecticut Huskies, 14-5 overall and 6-2 in the BIG EAST, on Saturday night at 8 p.m. at Cintas Center. Xavier is coming off an overtime loss at No. 20 St. John’s on Wednesday, while UConn is coming off an overtime win at home over Butler on Tuesday.

Xavier is playing its third-straight game against an AP Top 25 team. XU won at then-No. 7 Marquette last Saturday.

• Xavier, 12-8 overall and 4-5 in the BIG EAST Conference, had its three-game winning streak snapped at No. 20 St. John’s on Wednesday, 79-71 in overtime.

• Xavier is playing the third of three-straight games against AP Top 25 teams.
• Xavier is second in the BIG EAST and 17th in the nation in free throw percentage at .785. XU has three players ranked in the top 15 in the BIG EAST in free throw percentage: Dailyn Swain (fifth at .829), Ryan Conwell (sixth at .823) and Dayvion McKnight (11th at .800).
• Xavier leads the BIG EAST in fastbreak points (eighth in the nation in at 16.8 ppg.) and is second in 3-point percentage (26th in the nation at .382) and free throw percentage (17th in the nation at .785). XU is third in the BIG EAST in assist-to-turnover ratio (46th in the nation at 1.45) and assists per game (34th in the nation at 16.9 apg.).
• Xavier graduate student Zach Freemantle posted his 25th career double-double (fifth of the season) with 14 points and 10 rebounds at Marquette on Jan. 18. Freemantle, who missed Xavier’s first three BIG EAST games due to a knee injury, is second on the team in scoring (sixth in the BIG EAST at 16.6 ppg.) and leads the team in rebounding (fourth in the BIG EAST at 7.6 rpg.). He is third in the BIG EAST in defensive rebounding at 5.9 drpg.
• Xavier junior Ryan Conwell was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for the second time this season on Jan. 20. Conwell, who averaged 20 ppg. in two XU wins last week, scored a
collegiate career-high 34 points (28 in the second half) in the win over Villanova on Jan. 14.
• Xavier’s Ryan Conwell, who had a game-high 21 points at St. John’s, leads the team and is fifth in the BIG EAST in scoring at 16.7 ppg. Conwell, who had four 3-pointers at St. John’s, ranks second in the BIG EAST and 31st in the nation at 3.1 3-point field goals made per game. His 61 3-pointers made is second in the BIG EAST and 17th in the nation.

• Xavier graduate student Dayvion McKnight leads XU in assists at 4.9 apg. (sixth in the BIG EAST) and is second in the BIG EAST and 15th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.38. He is 11th in the BIG EAST in free throw percentage at .800.
• Xavier sophomore Dailyn Swain, who is averaging 10.6 ppg. and 5.8 rpg. in BIG EAST play, had a career-high 16 points, five rebounds and a career-high tying five assists vs. St. John’s on Wednesday. Swain is 12th in the BIG EAST in defensive rebounding (4.2 drpg.). He is sixth in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage at .559 and fifth in free throw percentage at .829.
