Annual Military Appreciation Game on tap for Saturday for WSU Raiders as they host Detroit, 1 PM

DAYTON – The Wright State men’s basketball team hosts its annual Military Appreciation contest on Saturday afternoon as the Raiders welcome Detroit Mercy to the Nutter Center. Tipoff is se for 1 p.m. in the first game of a doubleheader with the Wright State women’s basketball game to follow. Fans can follow the action several ways – watching on ESPN+, via live stats or by tuning in to the home for Raider Basketball 101.5 HANK FM and WING 1410 AM. Chris Collins and Justin Kinner will have all the play-by-play on the radio television feeds.

Fans can tune into 101.5 HANK FM live over the air in the Dayton metro area, as well stream the station live nationwide through a variety of free streaming apps. The iHeartRadio app, the TuneIn Radio app and the Audacy app are all FREE and each carry 101.5 HANK FM. Just search “101.5 HANK FM” on any of the three apps for Raider Basketball.

**Fans are encouraged to use the Wright State Raiders app as the primary method for managing their digital tickets, which are required for entry to all WSU basketball events. Tickets for the 2024-25 basketball seasons are now uploaded and accessible on all purchaser accounts. Fans can easily view their tickets, download them to their mobile wallet, or transfer them to another individual account.**

LAST TIME OUT 
Alex Huibregtse finished with a game-high 21 points to lead four Raiders in double digit scoring, but Wright State fell 95-79 to visiting Milwaukee in Horizon League action on Wednesday night. Brandon Noel turned in 17 points of his own while pulling down six rebounds, while Jack Doumbia finished with 14 points and added three rebounds. Keaton Norris was the final Raider in double figures with 10 points as he added three rebounds, three assists and a steal.

HUIBREGTSE ON A TEAR
Since missing the Jan. 12 RMU contest, Alex Huibregtse has been hot, shooting 49 percent overall (20-41) and connecting at 50 percent from three-point range (13-26) with three double digit scoring games. Huibregtse has tallied double-digits scoring in 18 of 20 games this season with nine games scoring 15-plus points. His 31 points against Purdue Fort Wayne on Jan. 15 were the second-most he’s scored in a game behind his 32-point performance last January at Cleveland State.

TITAN TUSSLE
Saturday will be the 71st meeting all-time between Wright State and Detroit Mercy, with the Raiders leading the series 42-28 and have won 19 of the last 22 overall over the last seven-plus seasons. The first meeting came back on Jan. 5, 1994, a 78-71 Wright State road victory inside Calihan Hall. The last meeting between the two came at Calihan Hall in early December, with the Raiders winning 80-72 behind 16 points from Brandon Noel and 21 points from Jack Doumbia.

MADE IN DETROIT
– Detroit Mercy is 6-15 overall with a 2-8 Horizon League mark, coming into the weekend having lost five in a row and 10 of its last 11 contests beginning with the first Wright State meeting on Dec. 7.
– Only one Detroit Mercy regular rotation player is averaging double-digits scoring (Orlando Lovejoy at 15.6 points per game).

HEAVY WORKLOAD
Brandon Noel has been on the floor for 82.9 percent of Wright State’s total minutes, while Alex Huibregtse has played 81.9 percent of the minutes (missed Jan. 12 game). Keaton Norris has been on the floor 65.8 percent of the time (missed 3 games) and Logan Woods is at 63.5 percent.
