COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 12/12 Ohio State women’s basketball team (17-1, 6-1 B1G) hosts No. 8/10 Maryland (16-2, 6-1 B1G) on Thursday evening for a 6 p.m. tip. The game will be broadcast on BTN and AM1460.

Fans are encouraged to wear white to Thursday’s game and the Buckeyes will also celebrate international night with local international organizations on the concourse before the game. The first 1,000 fans will get a free white t-shirt at the SW/NW/NE entrances. There will also be a live anthem singer and a jump rope group performance at halftime.

  • Ohio State suffered its first loss of the season on Sunday in a 62-59 decision at Penn State. Ohio State started quickly but Penn State took a lead into halftime. A low scoring fourth quarter ended the game as OSU couldn’t make its final field goal attempt.
  • Cotie McMahon (19) and Chance Gray (18) led the game in scoring and combined made seven three-pointers.
  • Jaloni Cambridge was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week on Monday, her second-consecutive week earning this honor. She led the Buckeyes to a 69-60 road win at Wisconsin with 27 points and added a career-high eight rebounds as well as four assists. Cambridge shot 11-of-16 (.688) from the floor and scored the Buckeyes’ first 13 points of the second quarter.
  • Maryland enters the game with a 16-2 overall record after an 89-51 loss against No. 7 Texas on Monday evening in the Coretta Scott King Classic.
  • The Terrapins hold a 6-1 conference record, having earned victories against Purdue, then No. 19 Michigan State, Rutgers, then No. 23 Iowa, Wisconsin and No. 24 Minnesota. UMD’s lone loss was to No. 4 USC.
  • Kaylene Smikle leads the Maryland offense with 17.8 ppg and Saylor Poffenbarger leads the Terps’ rebounding efforts with 8.9 per game.
  • Ohio State trails 15-8 in the all-time series against Maryland after having to vacate a pair of wins due to a later NCAA ruling. The Buckeyes lead 5-3 when facing the Terrapins in Columbus.
  • Last season, Ohio State and Maryland met three times. The Buckeyes claimed both regular season wins, while the Terps won the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament.
