Ohio State Women’s Basketbal hosts Oregon Ducks,for first time in program history; Chance Gray’s former team

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 9/9 Ohio State women’s basketball team (15-0, 4-0 B1G) hosts Oregon (12-4, 3-2 B1G) for the first meeting as Big Ten opponents on Sunday. The game will be broadcast on B1G+ and AM1460 with tip-off scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.

Join the Buckeyes for sneakerhead day. Arrive early for a live anthem singer and be in your seats during the third quarter media timeout for a sneaker keychain drop. Head coach Kevin McGuff will be wearing custom Air Force Ones and fans will have the chance to win their own by scanning a QR code during the game.

  • Ohio State overcame a 16-point deficit to defeat No. 25/RV Michigan by an 84-77 margin in Ann Arbor on Wednesday. It was a tale of two halves as UM shot nearly 70 percent from the floor in the first half and OSU shot 63 percent in the second half, outscoring the Wolverines by 20.
  • After tying the game in the third, the Buckeyes found themselves down by a 64-59 margin with just under six minutes remaining. Ohio State led by two with 48 seconds to play before rattling off an 8-0 run.
  • Jaloni Cambridge led the game with 29 points and was joined in double figures by Chance Gray (16), Cotie McMahon (13) and Ajae Petty (10).
  • Oregon comes to Columbus with a 12-4 overall record and a 3-2 mark in Big Ten play after beating Penn State on the road on Thursday evening by a 63-61 margin on a last possession shot. In their first season in the Big Ten, the Ducks hold wins over Northwestern and Wisconsin and have lost to then No. 6 USC and Illinois.
  • Peyton Scott and Deja Kelly lead the Oregon offense with 10.9 points per game apiece. Phillipina Kyei leads the Ducks with 5.9 rebounds per game.
  • Ohio State leads 3-1 in the all-time series against Oregon. This will be the teams’ first meeting as conference opponents and first meeting in Columbus.
  • The teams most recently met in the San Diego Invite on Dec. 21, 2022 when the Buckeyes earned an 84-67 win. This is the only previous meeting in the series during Kevin McGuff‘s tenure and the only previous meeting outside of Eugene.
  • In the 2022 game, Oregon was ranked No. 16 in the AP poll at the time. After a close first quarter, the Buckeyes used a 29-14 second quarter to create separation the rest of the way. Ohio State shot and shared the ball well throughout the game, making 34-of-66 (.515) from the floor and 12-of-22 (.546) from long range, adding 26 assists as a team.
