Xavier is 8-1 at Cintas Center this season.
CINCINNATI — The Xavier University Musketeers, 9-6 overall and 1-3 in the BIG EAST Conference, host the St. John’s University Red Storm, 12-3 overall and 3-1 in the BIG EAST, on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Cintas Center. Xavier is shooting to bounce back from a loss at Georgetown on Friday, while St. John’s is coming off a win over Butler on Saturday.
Xavier’s leading scorer and rebounder Zach Freemantle, a preseason Second Team All-BIG EAST selection, returned to action on Friday at Georgetown after missing three games due to a lower body injury. Freemantle contributed team highs of 16 points and seven rebounds at GU.

• Xavier is set to play St. John’s twice in about a two-week span. XU and SJU meet again on Jan. 22 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
• Xavier leads the BIG EAST in fastbreak points (seventh in the nation in at 18.1 ppg.) and is second in 3-point percentage (13th in the nation at .398). Xavier is third in the BIG EAST in free-throw percentage (28th in the nation at .777) and assist-to-turnover ratio (50th in the nation at 1.47), while ranking fourth in assists per game (40th in the nation at 17.0 apg.).
• Xavier graduate student Zach Freemantle, preseason Second Team All-BIG EAST, returned to action on Friday at Georgetown after missing three games due to a lower body injury. Freemantle, who contributed team highs of 16 points and seven rebounds at GU, leads the team in scoring (fourth in the BIG EAST at 16.8 ppg.) and rebounding (fifth in the BIG EAST at 7.7 rpg.).
• Xavier junior Ryan Conwell, preseason Third Team All-BIG EAST, is second on the team and seventh in the BIG EAST in scoring at 16.3 ppg. He has hit at least two 3-pointers in 14 of the first 15 games; he ranks third in the BIG EAST and 36th in the nation at 3.2 3-point field goals made per game. His 48 total 3-pointers made rank first in the BIG EAST and ninth in the nation.
• Xavier graduate student Dayvion McKnight, preseason Second Team All-BIG EAST, leads XU in assists at 4.7 apg. (tied for eighth in the BIG EAST) and is third in the BIG EAST and 36th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.96. He is fifth in the BIG EAST in FT% at .849.
• Xavier sophomore Dailyn Swain contributed his third-straight double-figure scoring game with 11 points (10 in the second half) at Georgetown on Friday. Swain, who is eighth in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage at .542, is 10th in the BIG EAST in free-throw percentage at .815. He is tied for sixth in the BIG EAST in steals at 1.7 spg.
• Xavier graduate student Marcus Foster is averaging 8.9 ppg. for the season but has raised that to 12.5 ppg. in BIG EAST Conference play.
• Xavier graduate student Jerome Hunter has started all four of XU’s BIG EAST games and contributed 10.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.5 steals per game.
• Xavier graduate student Dante Maddox Jr., who had 14 points and six assists vs. Seton Hall on Dec. 31, set Xavier career highs for points (22) and 3-pointers (5) at UConn on Dec. 18.
