The players on the list are considered strong candidates for the 2025 John R. Wooden Award® Women’s Player of the Year. Players not selected for the midseason list remain eligible for inclusion on the Wooden Award® late-season list, and the National Ballot. The National Ballot will feature 15 top players who have demonstrated to their universities that they meet or exceed the Wooden Award® qualifications.

Voters will be invited to rank 10 of the 15 players on the ballot in order of preference when voting opens during the NCAA Tournament. Voters will also consider performances in the tournament’s early rounds, players’ contributions to their teams and their character. The Wooden Award All-American Team™ will be announced during the week of the NCAA Tournament’s “Elite Eight.”

The winners and the All Americans of the 2025 John R. Wooden Award®, presented by Principal, will be honored at the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Friday, April 11, 2025.

McMahon was also named to the preseason watch lists for the Cheryl Miller Award and the Naismith Trophy in addition to being selected as a member of the Big Ten Preseason Team. She was named to the Big Ten Weekly Honor Roll on Dec. 9. McMahon is averaging a career-high 17.8 points per game this season to lead the Buckeye offense. She is also averaging 4.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. Despite missing four games due to injury, McMahon is tied for the team lead with four 20-point games and has scored in double figures nine out of 10 games. She is also shooting a career-best 34 percent from behind the arc this season and is just two made triples away from tying her career-high, despite only having played 10 games so far this season.
