TUESDAY: Miami heads west for its first away conference contest at Ball State in Worthen Arena on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. Heading into this game, the RedHawks rank fifth nationally in threes per game (11.7), ninth in three-point percentage (.408), 13th in turnovers forced per game (16.46) and 16th in turnover margin (5.0).

ABOUT BALL STATE: Ball State is coming off a 15-16 (7-11 MAC) season in 2023-24. Head coach Michael Lewis is in his third season with the Cardinals. Heading into the 2024-25 season, the MAC Men’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Poll picked the Cardinals to finish seventh in the conference. Payton Sparks was named First Team All-MAC as well.

Ball State is currently 7-6 (1-0 MAC), having won its last four games. The Cardinals have four players who average double figures in scoring, which includes Jermahri Hill (16.6), Mickey Pearson Jr. (10.5), Juanse Gorosito (10.2) and Payton Sparks (10.1). Hill and Sparks are tied for the lead in blocks per contest (0.3). Hill also leads the team in assists (2.7) and steals per game (1.0). Pearson has recorded the most rebounds per game (6.2).

THE SERIES WITH THE CARDINALS: Tuesday will mark the 112th time Miami and Ball State have faced off. The RedHawks head into this game leading the series 68-43. Ball State leads the series in Muncie 27-26. The last time the Red and White faced off with the Cardinals, Miami secured an 80-59 victory on Feb. 17, 2024.

UP NEXT: The RedHawks continue conference play by hosting Western Michigan Saturday, Jan. 11 at 3:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: The Miami University men’s basketball team opened conference play with a 93-79 victory against Buffalo this past Saturday afternoon. Kam Craft led the RedHawks with 20 points, and five other RedHawks added double figures in scoring. Brant Byers shot a perfect six-of-six from the field, knocking down a career-best six threes. Peter Suder recorded his first double-double as a RedHawk with 17 points and 10 rebounds. The RedHawks committed under 10 turnovers for the fourth time this season. The Red and White also shot 50% or better from three (17-of-34) for the third time this season.
