RedHawks Begin Mid-American Conference Play by Hosting up and down Buffalo Bulls, 1 pm

SATURDAY: Miami begins conference play by welcoming the Buffalo Bulls to Millett Hall on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 1 p.m. Heading into this game, the RedHawks rank seventh nationally in threes per game (11.3), 11th in turnovers forced per game (16.75), 13th in three-point percentage (.398), 18th in steals per game (10.0), 19th in turnover margin (4.9) and 25th in field-goal percentage (.496).

ABOUT BUFFALO: Buffalo is coming off a 4-27 (2-16 MAC) season in 2023-24. Head coach George Halcovage III is in his second season with the Bulls. Heading into the 2024-25 season, the MAC Men’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Poll picked the Bulls to finish 12th in the conference.

Buffalo is currently 5-7 (0-0 MAC), having dropped its past three games. The Bulls have two players who average double figures in scoring, which include Ryan Sabol (15.9) and Tyson Dunn (11.8). Dunn leads the team in assists (5.5) and steals per game (1.8). Noah Batchelor has recorded the most rebounds per game (5.8), and Anquan Boldin Jr. leads all players in blocks per contest (0.8).

THE SERIES WITH THE BULLS: Saturday will mark the 57th time Miami and Buffalo have faced off. The RedHawks head into this game leading the series 29-27. The last time the Red and White faced off with Buffalo, Miami secured an 86-65 victory on Jan. 9, 2024.

UP NEXT: The RedHawks continue conference play by traveling to Ball State Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: The Miami University men’s basketball team soared past Defiance College 141-58 Monday night at Millett Hall, as the RedHawks set a new program record for most points scored in a game. This point total is also the most in MAC history and the second-most points scored at the Division I level this season. Dan Luers led all players with 20 points, while five other RedHawks scored in double figures. Miami set a new team single-game high in both field goals made (53) and field goal percentage (71.6%). For the second time this season, the RedHawks knocked down a MAC-record 22 triples (tied for the second-most by any Division I program this season).

MAC LEADERS: So far this season, Miami ranks among conference leaders in multiple statistical categories:

  • Kam Craft ranks eighth in the MAC with 15.3 points per game, fifth in three-point field goal percentage (.444) and has knocked down 3.3 threes per game (first in MAC)
  • Mekhi Cooper is fifth in the conference with 1.8 steals per game and is also tied for fourth in assists per game (3.5)
  • Eian Elmer is 17th in the MAC for his scoring (13.0), sixth in three-point field goal percentage (.429), third in steals per game (2.2) and tied for fourth in blocked shots per game (0.8)
  • Luke Skaljac leads all players in the MAC with a .615 three-point field goal percentage.
  • Peter Suder is 12th overall in the MAC for scoring (14.6), sixth in field goal percentage (.538) and sixth in steals per game (1.6)
  • Antwone Woolfolk is first overall in the MAC with a .614 field goal percentage, tied for fourth in blocks per game (0.8) and he is also 10th in the conference for his rebounding each game (5.6)
