BLUE JACKETS TEAM NOTES
- The Blue Jackets fell in regulation at Nationwide Arena for the first time in seven games (4-1-2) following tonight’s loss to the Red Wings. The loss also snapped a four-game home win streak.
- The Jackets have now collected points in 11 of their last 13 home contests (8-2-3) following the regulation loss.
- CBJ have recorded points in five of their past seven contests overall since Dec. 19 (4-2-1).
- CBJ recorded the first goal tonight and have scored first in six of the last seven games and in 23 (13-6-4) of the 39 games this season.
- The club has recorded 129 goals (not including SO goals) in the first 39 games this season. It’s tied for second-most goals scored through the opening 39 contests of a campaign in franchise history (2018-19), trailing only 2016-17 (130).
- Columbus has scored goals in 80-of-the-117 periods played in regulation this year after scoring in all three periods tonight. It marks the fifth time in the last seven games (four-of-past-five at home) the club has scored in all three periods and the 16th time this season (12th at home).
- CBJ have registered 36 multi-goal periods this season after scoring two goals in the second period.
- The Jackets have recorded a power play goal in 10 of the last 13 games (12-of-38; 31.6 pct.) after scoring on one of their two chances tonight.
- Tonight’s attendance was a sellout crowd of 18,370.
BLUE JACKETS PLAYER NOTES
- C Adam Fantilli (7-9-16, 39 GP) collected an assist and has 1-1-2 in his past four games. He has also posted 1-1-2 in three career games against the Red Wings.
- C Sean Monahan (14-23-38, 39 GP) scored a second period goal and has now registered nine points in his last five games (3-6-9) as well as 12 points in his last seven outings (5-7-12). He has registered 6-10-16 in 21 career games, including 3-6-9 in 10 career home contests against the Red Wings.
- D Ivan Provorov (3-12-15, 39 GP) tallied an assist and has 0-3-3 in his past six games.
- C Cole Sillinger (6-15-21, 38 GP) notched an assist tonight for his first points since Dec. 17 at Tampa Bay.
- RW James van Riemsdyk (6-6-12, 32 GP) scored twice and assisted on another for his first three-point effort (2-1-3) and his second multi-point game as a Blue Jacket. The three-point tally marks his first since Feb. 17, 2024 vs. Los Angeles (2-1-3). He has recorded 14-9-23 in 35 career games against Detroit, including points in two-straight contests (3-2-5).
- D Zach Werenski (12-31-43, 39 GP) posted his 10th multi-point effort of the season (1-2-3) to extend his franchise record home points streak to 14-straight games (9-19-28) and tie Mike Green (14 GP in 2009-10 w/ WSH) for the longest home points streak by a defenseman in the NHL in the past 30 years. It was his third three-point effort in his past five games (1-10-11) and the 14th of his career, tying Nick Foligno for the fifth most in franchise history. Werenski had two assists in the second period for his 25th multi-point period of his career, passing Oliver Bjorkstrand (24) for the fourth most multi-point periods in Blue Jackets history (Rick Nash 51; Cam Atkinson 28; and Nick Foligno 26). The blueliner has posted points in 19 of the past 26 played this season (9-24-33). He has notched 4-14-18 with five multi-point efforts in 23 career games against Detroit, including assists in each of his last four games (2-8-10) and points in his past five overall (3-8-11) as well as points in his past five home contests (3-6-9) and six of his last seven at Nationwide Arena (3-7-10).
