LAST TIME OUT
Wright State saw double-digit scoring afternoons from Brandon Noel and Jack Doumbia, but the Raiders’ second half push was not enough as they fell 78-64 at Cleveland State Sunday in Horizon League road action. Noel tallied a game-high 20 points, adding six rebounds, two steals, two blocks and an assist in 35 minutes of action, while Doumbia tallied 19 points and filled his stat line with three rebounds, three blocks, a pair of assists and a steal. Michael Imariagbe returned to the starting lineup, finishing with nine points and seven rebounds in 22 minutes of action.
HOME COOKING
Wright State has played 10 of its first 15 games away from the Nutter Center, but Thursday’s game kicks off a stretch that’ll see the Raiders play five of eight January games at home, including back-to-back home games – twice – for the first time this season. The Raiders begin January 4-1 inside the Nutter Center.
STARTING THE NEW YEAR RIGHT
Wright State has won its last game of the new calendar year in each of the last five seasons entering Thursday’s game. The Raiders are 19-6 in their first games each January dating back to January 3, 2000.
FACING THE PHOENIX
Wright State has won 14 of the last 18 meetings overall in the series against Green Bay and are 9-1 in the last 10 matchups inside the Nutter Center. The first meeting in the series came back on December 7, 1987, a Green Bay victory in the Raiders’ first year as a Division I program. A tight series throughout history, Wright State now has a slim, 39-34 overall series lead.
PHOENIX RISING
– Green Bay is 2-13 overall and 0-4 in the Horizon League, coming into Thursday on a 10-game losing streak. The Phoenix won two of their first five games, winning at Western Illinois and at home against Southern Illinois Edwardsville, before the current skid.
– Anthony Roy leads Green Bay in scoring at 25.7 points/game, but has only played in 11 games (none since Dec. 14), while Marcus Hall is also averaging double figures at 12.9 points/game.
HOT SHOTS
Four regular rotation players are connecting at over 50.0 percent from the floor, led by Michael Imariagbe’s 58.8 percent, followed by Jack Doumbia (58.5), Brandon Noel (55.6) and Alex Huibregtse (50.3), with Logan Woods (48.4) and Drey Carter (46.3) just off the shooting pace.
