BLUE JACKETS TEAM NOTES

  • The Blue Jackets have collected points in seven of their last eight home contests (4-1-3) as well as 10 of their last 12 games at Nationwide Arena (7-2-3) following tonight’s overtime loss to the Ducks.
  • The club has recorded 99 goals (not including SO goals) in the first 30 games this season.  It’s the tied for the second-most goals scored through the opening 30 contests of a campaign in franchise history (2016-17) and three shy of the 102 recorded in 2018-19.
  • Columbus has scored goals in 61-of-the-90 periods played in regulation this year after scoring in the first and third periods tonight.
  • CBJ have registered 28 multi-goal periods this season after scoring two goals in the first period.  It marked the 12th time in 2024-25 that the team has scored multiple goals in the opening frame.
  • CBJ scored a power play goal for the fourth-straight game (4-for-11, 36.4 pct.) for the first time this season.
  • Tonight’s attendance was 17,663.

 

BLUE JACKETS PLAYER NOTES

  • RW Kirill Marchenko and C Cole Sillinger scored 34 seconds apart in the first period, the second fastest mark between two goals this season (Kuraly and Aston-Reese, 22 seconds on Nov. 12 at Seattle).
  • LW Zach Aston-Reese (4-6-10, 29 GP) tallied an assist tonight for his second in five games (0-2-2).
  • Kent Johnson (9-9-18, 16 GP) collected an assist tonight to stretch his assists streak to three-straight (1-3-4) and points to four consecutive (3-3-6).  He has collected points in his first nine home games played this season (4-8-12, 9 GP), becoming the second player in club history to do so after Cam Atkinson posted points in his first 10 home games in 2015-16 & 2016-17.  He has also recorded points in 13 of his 16 games played this season (1.23 P/GP).
  • RW Kirill Marchenko (11-17-28, 30 GP) scored his team-leading 11th and first power play goal of the season tonight. He has posted 1-3-4 in his past five games and sits five points shy of 100 for his NHL career. The forward has tallied 2-1-3 in six career games against the Ducks, with all points coming in the 2024-25 two-game season series.
  • RW Mathieu Olivier (8-4-12, 30 GP) collected an assist tonight and is already three points shy of tying his single-season career high just 30 games into the campaign (5-10-15, 66 GP in 2022-23).
  • Damon Severson (6-11-17, 30 GP) tallied an assist tonight and has 2-2-4 in the last six games. The blueliner has posted five assists in his last five home contests against the Ducks (0-5-5).
  • Cole Sillinger (5-14-19, 29 GP) scored a goal tonight and has recorded 2-2-4 in his last six games and 3-8-11 in his past 14 contests since Nov. 15.
  • LW James van Riemsdyk (4-5-9, 23 GP) has posted 1-3-4 in the past four games after notching a goal tonight.
  • Zach Werenski (10-21-31, 30 GP) extended his home points streak to nine-straight games (7-9-16) with an assist tonight.  He’s tied Ryan Johansen (9 GP in 2014-15) for the fourth longest in franchise history and one behind the franchise record (3x, MR: Oliver Bjorkstrand, 10 GP in 2021-22).  He has 2-3-5 in his past six games as well as 7-15-22 in 14 of his last 17 outings.  The blueliner has posted 6-4-10 in 14 career games played against the Ducks, including points in three-straight against the club (2-2-4).
