Xavier is shooting for its sixth-straight win over UC.
CINCINNATI — The Xavier University Musketeers, 8-2, visit the No. 22/23 University of Cincinnati Bearcats, 7-1, on Saturday at 2 p.m. for the annual Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout. Xavier is shooting for its sixth-straight win in the series and its 10th win in 12 meetings.
Xavier’s game vs. UC begins a stretch of three-straight games vs. ranked opponents. XU’s next three games are at No. 22 Cincinnati, XU’s BIG EAST opener at No. 18 and two-time defending National Champion UConn on Dec. 18, and No. 6 Marquette in XU’s BIG EAST home opener on Dec. 21.

• Xavier and Cincinnati are meeting for the 92nd time. UC leads 51-40 but XU has won five straight vs. UC, nine of the last 11 meetings and 13 of the last 17.
• Xavier’s next three games are at No. 22 Cincinnati, XU’s BIG EAST opener at No. 18 and two-time defending National Champion UConn on Dec. 18, and No. 6 Marquette in XU’s BIG EAST home opener on Dec. 21.
• Xavier, 8-2, is coming off a 119-58 win over Morgan State on Tuesday. XU set a school record for largest victory margin (61 points) and a Cintas Center record for most points (119).
• Xavier leads the BIG EAST in fastbreak points (second in the nation in at 20.8 ppg.). Xavier is third in the BIG EAST in assists per game (13th in the nation at 18.9 apg.), free-throw
percentage (39th in the nation at .770) and 3-point percentage (16th in the nation at .401).
• Xavier graduate student Zach Freemantle, preseason Second Team All-BIG EAST, leads the team in scoring (sixth in the BIG EAST at 16.8 ppg.) and in rebounding (fourth in BIG EAST at 7.8 rpg.). He leads the league in defensive rebounding at 6.1 drpg.
• Xavier’s Zach Freemantle, coming off his third double-double of the season and 23rd of his career with 27 points and 10 rebounds vs. Morgan State, is the only XU player that has scored in double figures in all 10 games. This is the longest single-season double-figure scoring streak of his career.
• Xavier junior newcomer Ryan Conwell, a preseason Third Team All-BIG EAST selection, is second on the team in scoring at 16.4 ppg. (eighth in the BIG EAST), while ranking second in the BIG EAST and 12th in the nation at 3.6 3-point field goals made per game.
• Xavier’s Ryan Conwell has hit at least two 3-pointers in all 10 games, which is the longest streak of games with at least two treys in his career.
• Xavier graduate student Dayvion McKnight, a preseason Second Team All-BIG EAST selection, has averaged 11.1 ppg. and a team-high 4.3 apg. (ninth in the BIG EAST).
• Xavier sophomore Dailyn Swain leads XU and is fifth in the BIG EAST in steals at 1.9 spg. He is tied for 18th in overall rebounding at 5.1 rpg. and is 12th in defensive rebounding at 4.5 drpg.
